A New Chapter: Bridging Analysis and the Art of Living
Since 2005, this blog has been a digital home for my reflections on the world around us. What began as a simple platform has become a two-decade-long record of a changing Europe — the rise of technology, shifting economies, and the evolving challenges facing democratic societies.
But as we move through 2026, one thing has become increasingly clear to me: analysing the world is only half the journey.
The other half is how we choose to live within it.
The Pursuit of the Good Life
This year, together with my wife, Diana, I’m opening a new chapter here — one that blends deep societal analysis with a more personal exploration: the pursuit of a meaningful, intentional, and good life.
Because a better society is not only built through institutions and policies.
It is also shaped through everyday choices: how we show up, what we prioritise, how we spend our attention, and how we treat others.
In a fast-paced world, I believe in slow thought.
In a loud world, I believe in clarity.
And in a restless world, I believe in presence.
The 365-Day Journey
As part of this shift, I’m currently documenting “The Best Year of My Life (So Far)” — a 365-day commitment to intentional living.
Some days, this will mean essays on Europe, democracy, progress, and the forces shaping our future. Other days, it will be simpler: the joy of a shared meal, a quiet walk with our dog, or a moment of gratitude in the middle of ordinary life.
What to expect here
• Essays — deep dives into democracy, technology, and progress
• Dispatches — daily notes from the 365-day journey toward the good life
• Reflections — thoughts on culture, aesthetics, and the art of being present
Whether you’ve been reading since 2005 or you just arrived, you are warmly invited.
Let’s explore how we can contribute to a better world — starting with the lives we lead.
Welcome to the conversation.
